Just in case you don’t have time to listen, here’s the transcript!
Hey, welcome back! This is This Week’s Magic, your weekly astrological weather report. I’m Shereen, and this is the forecast for the week of May 24th.
Before we get into this week, I just want to acknowledge that last week was a lot. Multiple planets changing signs, a first quarter moon check in, energy shifting in several directions at once. If you felt some intensity, some clearing, some things moving faster than expected, that tracks completely. Give yourself a little credit for navigating it and let’s talk about what’s coming.
The overall vibe
This week has a quieter first half and a building second half. We’re being asked to slow down, tend to ourselves, mind our inner dialogue, and prepare for a Full Moon on Sunday that is genuinely one of the more significant ones of the year. There’s a lot of fire and air energy in the sky right now and things are materializing quickly because of it. That means how you talk to yourself matters more than usual. We’ll come back to that.
Sun in Gemini sextile Neptune in Aries — Sunday May 24th
We open the week Sunday night with the Sun in Gemini forming a sextile with Neptune in Aries. This is dreamy, intuitive, creative energy. Sextiles are easy and supportive, so this isn’t overwhelming, it’s more like a gentle invitation to soften your thinking a little. Let your imagination run. Be open to inspiration that doesn’t come with a logical explanation attached. Sunday night is a good night for journaling, for dreaming, for letting your mind wander somewhere interesting.
Mars in Taurus square Pluto in Aquarius — Tuesday May 27th, midnight
Tuesday starts spicy. At midnight Mars in Taurus squares Pluto in Aquarius, and this one has some teeth.
Mars is drive, action, will. Pluto is power, transformation, what’s hidden. When they square, there can be power struggles, frustration, a feeling of being blocked or pushed against something that won’t move. Taurus and Aquarius are both fixed signs, so this energy can dig in hard on both sides.
This is not the energy to force anything. If you hit a wall Tuesday morning, don’t bulldoze it. Notice what the resistance is actually telling you. Mars square Pluto can feel like pressure but it can also be the thing that finally pushes you to deal with something you’ve been avoiding. Use it as information.
Sun in Gemini trine Pluto in Aquarius — Tuesday midday
Then by midday Tuesday the Sun in Gemini trines Pluto and the energy does a full one-eighty. Where the midnight square was friction and pressure, the midday trine is depth and flow. Your mind is sharp, your sense of purpose feels clear, and any difficult thing that surfaced in the morning has a better chance of being understood and integrated by afternoon.
Tuesday is actually a fascinating day because of this exact sequence. Friction at midnight, clarity by noon. Don’t write the whole day off based on how it starts.
A sidebar: Void of Course Moon — Wednesday May 28th
Wednesday we have something worth explaining because it doesn’t happen this intensely very often. The moon goes void of course at 7:31am and doesn’t enter Scorpio until 8:52pm. That’s over thirteen hours of void of course moon, and that’s a long one.
So what does void of course actually mean?
Here’s the simple version. As the moon moves through each sign, it forms aspects with other planets. When it makes its last major aspect in a sign but hasn’t yet moved into the next sign, it enters what’s called a void of course period. It’s in between. It’s in a kind of cosmic waiting room.
The reason this matters is that things initiated during a void of course moon tend to not go anywhere or not develop the way you intended. It’s not a cursed time, it’s just not ideal energy for launching something new, signing important contracts, making major decisions, or having conversations you really need to land a certain way.
Think of it like sending an important email and then your wifi cuts out before it delivers. The effort was real but the timing didn’t support it.
Wednesday’s void of course runs basically all day. So practically: keep it light. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get things done. Handle routine tasks, rest if you can, remain flexible, and try to avoid major moves if you can help it. Save the important stuff for Thursday when the moon is back in Scorpio and grounded.
Ceres enters Gemini — Thursday May 28th
Thursday, Ceres moves into Gemini and I want to properly introduce her since we’ve already met Vesta in this series.
Ceres is one of the four major asteroids in astrology alongside Vesta, Pallas, and Juno. She’s actually technically a dwarf planet now, reclassified in 2006, but in astrology she’s still worked with as an asteroid. She was the first asteroid ever discovered, back in 1801.
In mythology, Ceres is the Roman goddess of agriculture and harvest, known as Demeter in Greek tradition. And her most famous myth is the one about her daughter Persephone, who was taken to the underworld by Hades. Ceres was so devastated that she let the earth go barren, refusing to let anything grow until her daughter was returned. Eventually a deal was struck. Persephone would spend part of the year with her mother above ground and part of the year below. And that is how the mythology explains the seasons.
In astrology, Ceres represents how we nurture and how we need to be nurtured. She’s about self care, the cycles of loss and return, how we feed ourselves and others emotionally and physically. She also carries that grief thread from the myth, the places in us that have experienced loss and learned to tend to life again anyway.
Now she’s moving into Gemini, which shifts that nurturing energy into the realm of communication. How are you talking to yourself? What is your inner dialogue actually saying? Are you feeding your mind with thoughts that support your growth or are you running old stories on a loop?
Right now with so much fire and air energy in the sky, things are materializing quickly. Ideas are becoming real faster than usual. Which means your inner dialogue has more power than it normally does. It’s okay to be a little delusional if it’s aligned with your highest wellbeing. Truly. The voice in your head that says you can do the thing, that says you’re becoming who you’re meant to be, that voice deserves to be the loudest one in the room. Ceres in Gemini is asking you to tend that voice the way you’d tend a garden. Feed it well.
Venus in Cancer square Saturn in Aries — Thursday night
Thursday night, Venus in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries, and this one is a commitment check.
Venus in Cancer wants warmth, safety, emotional security, to be held and taken care of. Saturn in Aries is structured, demanding, a little cold, asking what’s actually real here. When they square, it can feel like a reality check in your love life or around money. Something that has felt cozy and comfortable gets pressure tested.
This isn’t necessarily bad news. Saturn’s job is to show you what’s actually solid and what’s just comfortable. If a relationship or a financial situation is genuinely built on something real, it can handle the pressure. If it’s been running on hope and avoidance, Thursday night might surface that.
Be honest. Not harsh, but honest. That’s the invitation.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius — Sunday May 31st, Blue Moon
Okay. Sunday brings us a Full Moon at 9 degrees 56 minutes of Sagittarius, which means we round up to 10 degrees. And because this is the second full moon in May, it is officially a Blue Moon. We actually called this back in episode three when we told you May was going to be a big month. Here we are.
Let’s start with the Sabian symbols because this degree has two versions in circulation and I want to share both because they’re both doing something interesting.
The first is “A Golden-Haired Goddess of Opportunity.” The image of a goddess arriving, radiant, unexpected, representing a moment of grace and possibility that you almost miss if you’re not paying attention. The second is “A Theatrical Performance of a Greek Play.” Ancient stories being told on a stage, archetypes playing out their roles, themes that are bigger than any individual life.
I want you to hold both of those images for this moon because I think they’re both true. There’s an opportunity here, possibly an unexpected one, a door opening. And there’s also something larger playing out, a story bigger than just your personal situation. Both feel relevant.
Now let’s talk about what’s actually happening in the sky on Sunday.
This Full Moon opposes Uranus in Gemini. That’s the wildcard. Uranus brings sudden revelations, unexpected developments, the kind of moment where something shifts in an instant and you can’t un-know what you now know. Sagittarius is already the sign of truth, of beliefs, of the bigger picture. A Sagittarius Full Moon opposite Uranus is a lightning bolt of clarity about something you’ve been circling around.
It trines Saturn and Neptune in Aries. That’s the stabilizer. Whatever gets illuminated or disrupted has support underneath it. Saturn gives it structure, Neptune gives it meaning. The disruption isn’t just chaos for chaos’s sake. It’s pointing you somewhere.
It sextiles Pluto in Aquarius. More support. Transformation that’s available if you’re willing to engage with what surfaces.
And it squares the nodes in Pisces and Virgo. This is what gives the moon its teeth. The nodes are our destiny axis, where we’re coming from and where we’re headed as souls and as a collective. The North Node is in Pisces right now, asking us to move toward faith, surrender, creativity, compassion. The South Node is in Virgo, asking us to release the overanalytical, the perfectionism, the martyrdom, the endless loop of self improvement that never actually feels like enough.
A Full Moon squaring the nodes is asking a direct question: are your beliefs aligned with your evolution? Not your stated beliefs. The ones you’re actually living. The ones running in the background of every decision you make.
Sagittarius rules beliefs, philosophy, the stories we tell ourselves about what life means and what’s possible for us. This moon is going to illuminate where those stories are serving you and where they’re quietly holding you back.
It’s a spicy moon. Not a scary one, but a honest one. And with Uranus involved, something might genuinely surprise you. Stay open. Stay flexible. And remember: the trine to Saturn means whatever survives the illumination of this moon is real and worth building on.
For your ritual: this is a Blue Moon, the second full moon of May, so the energy is amplified. Cleanse your space, do your salt bath, journal. And spend some time genuinely examining what you believe about yourself and your life right now. Not what you want to believe. What you actually believe. Then ask whether those beliefs are pointing you toward your Pisces North Node, toward faith and expansion and surrender, or whether they’re keeping you in a Virgo South Node loop of analyzing and criticizing and never quite being enough.
The goddess of opportunity is at the door. The Greek play is on the stage. Be present enough to notice which story you’re actually in.
The verdict
Mind your inner dialogue this week because things are materializing fast and your thoughts have more power than usual right now. Rest on Wednesday. Be honest on Thursday. And by Sunday, be ready for a full moon that is equal parts disruptive and clarifying. It’s pointing you somewhere. Trust that.
Closing
That’s your magic for the week. Now go make some more. And next week we are officially into June and the energy shifts significantly. You’ll want to be tuned in. See you soon!
